Your Role
As the Staff Robotics Engineer at Four Growers, you will play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge motion planning algorithms for our harvesting and analytics platform: the GR-100. You will collaborate with a talented team of engineers and researchers to enhance our product through advanced real-time, collision-free planning techniques.
What you’ll do:
- Design and build robust and scalable framework that enables rapid exploration and evaluation of different motion planning approaches and algorithms
- Research, develop, implement, and productionize state-of-the-art 3D planning algorithms, environment modeling techniques, and collision-aware kinematics
- Interface with perception and controls engineers in order to create a complete, real-time robotic harvesting solution
- Guide and mentor junior team members to develop a culture of product focused research and development
Necessary Education & Experience
BS Degree in Robotics Engineering or related fields
Necessary Skills & Experience
- 6+ years research and development experience in robotics / motion planning
- Deep understanding of single agent high dimensionality motion planning
- Skilled in numerical optimization techniques (e.g., nonlinear constrained optimization)
- Experience with optimization solvers (IPOPT, Gurobi, etc)
- Proven ability to produce computationally efficient software that can meet real-time requirements
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability with a commitment to delivering high quality software
- High level of proficiency in C++
- Excelling problem-solving and communication skills
Helpful Skills & Experience
- Experience with perception systems
- Experience developing algorithms for time constrained problems
- Experience with robotics arms
- Experience with machine learning: deep learning, planning under uncertainty, prediction, reinforcement learning
